Hey guys,

Here's a possible tough identification for you. I believe this is a GoodYear blimp but only because GoodYear used to have one that this resembles.

The internal body (with external rear wings and cabin) is diecast metal. The red & silver elements are molded plastic. It has literally no markings anywhere. It also appears the red plastic may have been broken and (not pictured) there is a round hole underneath between the cabin and the wings.

Lol, another Ghosty Phosty it seems.. And again you are a star. Exactly the knowledge I needed to complete my search and understanding.

It adorns my desk at work along with a 1948 Dinky Police box, 1983 Darth Vader pencil top, R2D2 and a clockwork tin mouse that I know is older than I am amongst other geeky 'trinkets'. Even got a poloroid of me givin my first born a piggy back (he was about 18mths at the time).

You paint a nice picture McCarthyMR, scan the POLAROID and post it onto the forum, please!

Strangely the first thing that i thought of was that it resembled these little metal airship shaped cap bombs i had as a kid. You would slide a ribbon of caps into the top of it and throw it in the air and it was weighted so the front end would dive hitting the ground setting off the caps with a huge bang. Great stuff!!

I had completely forgotten these until i looked at the images of that diecast airship. So thanks for digging up a long forgotten memory from the early 70's

I remember playing with something similar, they were plastic and shaped a little bit more like a missile or a rocket with tail fins and a metal tip. We used to lob them up as high as possible, usually somewhere like a playground, a road or car-park where you knew you'd get a good contact when they landed. Great fun
