Thanks Ritchie for another stunning collection of '3-inch' Rolls-Royce models. Presumably you have another collection of these 'TOMICA' models but still in their boxes and blister cards, is it possible to see those!

I have been to Japan many times in the past 13 years (my GF being from Osaka, Japan), but never took the time to dig into these PVI Tomica's.
Next time we go there, the hunt will be on for these Tomica Roorusu Roisu Fuanotomu VI (as spoken in Japanese)
By the way Ritchie, what a collection, absolutely stunning!!! thanks for showing.
Best, Gerrit.
By the way I have six of these models, the two far right are repaints. The #4 from left (playworn) is metallic red, do you have it in your collection?

Hi Gerrit,
No, I have not seen one in metallic red. Do the rivets look normal?

3 more blister variations found in addition to the above:
This should be the earliest US Pocket Cars blister. It does not have the model name and number printed at front.

This should be the latest US Pocket Cars blister in this design. Blister copyright 1981.
- DSC_1553s.jpg (140.33 KiB) Viewed 3648 times
This should be the earliest Red blister design. It still used the old code "F6" at top left corner.

Hi Ritchie.
I think the card in picture DSC_1527, is from late 1979-80 and the card in picture DSC_1553s is early to mid 1981. The TOMY Pocket Cars blister cards from 1974 onwards are very hard to date accurately because the design of dark Blue Denim with Yellow stitching was changed only very slightly and they kept this design in use for many Years and the first 1974 design can be designated as 1974-1 (Long card), 1974-2 (Short card), 1974-3, 1974-4 and then 1974-5.
1974-1, not used for the Rolls-Royce.
1974-2, not used for the Rolls-Royce.
1974-3, not used for the Rolls-Royce.
1974-4, would be used for the Rolls-Royce during 1976.
1974-5, also used for the Rolls-Royce during 1976.
You have shown the earliest known (by me!) blister card for the Rolls-Royce as picture number...8.jpg (my 1974-4 in the list above). We can tell this is the early card because it has the 'TOMY' logo at top right, this changed to the top left for the 1977 printing.
I have tried to keep this brief as it gets very complicated once we start looking at the Button image on the front of these blister cards as it changed from being the right way up, then the wrong way up, then the 'TOMY' logo is in Two different sizes, it just goes on and on, so I hope what appears above is simple enough to understand. Maybe one Day I will have to come back to this subject with a more detailed appraisal of the blisters.

Hi Kevin,
Yes, you are right!
I found a site which discussed these Pocket Cars blistercards thoroughly
http://tomypocketcars.freeservers.com/custom.html
Basically it listed the below variations, and my picture number ref in the bracket:
1. 1974#1 in long card (Not used for RR)
2. 1974#1 in short card (Not used for RR)
3. 1974#2 (Not used for RR)
4. 1974#3 (8.jpg)
5. 1974#4 (7.jpg, DSC_1527s.jpg)
6. 1974#5
7. 1974#6 (6.jpg)
8. No copyright card (5.jpg)
9. 1980
10. 1981 (DSC_1553s.jpg)
11. 1982
12. 1986 (11.jpg)
No. 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, 11 above have variation of "no printing in the white area at front of card".
And at least No.6, 9, 11 I need to look for.

Thank's Ritchie, that seems to be a very well researched website, although if I have read it correctly, he does not recognize one of the early cards as a specific version in it's own right but does mention the button image being upside down on some cards, not many collectors notice that until it is pointed out to them...

I didn't notice the button too until you mentioned
And what's that specific early card you referred to?
