The NAMC’s “Catalog of all Series Matchbox Models” (first edition) lists a variation at 60-1a which has (probably) 9 x 24 GPW with c/a. If confirmed, this would form a new variation code 1. In addition, there is also variation 60-1g which has kSPW, r/a and rear trim (i.e as Nick's variation codes 11 and 12 except for the trim). This would slot into Nick's table as a new code 7.
Neither the AIM “1-75 Series Regular Wheels” catalogue (second printing, 1983) nor Stannard has any unlisted variations.
Houghton lists 60a-10 as having 8 x 18 GPW, r/a front trim only, and no rear window (i.e. a no rear window version of Nick's code 9). If confirmed, this would be a new code at no. 17.
U.K. Matchbox covered the model in Vol. 6, no. 5 (Dec. '82) p187, but did not identify any variations not covered by Nick. However, the article notes that the equivalent of Nick's codes 6 and above are a lighter blue than his codes 1 to 5. This colour variation is not highlighted by either NAMC or AIM, which is odd since even minor shade variations are listed for other models. I cannot see it in my collection either.

Re: 60a
Hello Hugh, I have to spend so much time between Stannards variations and Nicks variations.
I have six (6) variations, by Stannards they are codes 1-2-7-9-13-14, by Nicks they are codes 1-4-7-9-15-16
My Stannards code 2 and Nicks code 4 has no Silver Trim at all.

I have checked the Blue colours there is a slight difference, more in the hand rather than in the photo.

I enjoy your posts Hugh as it really keeps me busy, going between all the variation books, thank you,
George T.

Re: 60a
The no trim version would be classed as an error piece, I have also had one with gold trim and one with gold and silver mixed together as on the 19b MGA.

The colour difference actually shows up very well on my monitor. I wonder if, in typical Lesney fashion, my c/a model could be a later (i.e. lighter blue) body paired with an earlier baseplate?kerbside wrote:I have checked the Blue colours there is a slight difference, more in the hand rather than in the photo.

Re: 60a
Just picked up my first version of this model with 9x24 GPW, I was hoping for one without the window but this model has the window making it unlisted.
Same as Nicks code 14 but with window, the search continues. J

Re: 60a Morris J2 Pick-Up
Hi,
just found a very small difference on the baseplate of the Moriss I received today.
It is code 16 according to Nicks list.
The letters on the baseplate are a little thicker than on the other two models (code 2 and 11) I have.
The text "No 60" for example is in total 6 mm long, the same text on the other two models is 5,5 mm long.
