Job Lot Loft Find of 200/250 Matchbox Lesney Cars Help ?

Post by JMBDirect »

Hello Guys & Girls

Basically my best friends father has unfortunately passed away and i have been helping him go through his property and clear out some of his stuff when we have come across all these cars.
I messaged Nick on here a picture of all the cars in boxes but he said he needed to see the cars out of the box from all angles and i have just finished taking pictures of all the boxed ones and uploaded it to photobucket.com

http://s5.photobucket.com/user/rasketru ... t=4&page=1

There are still more pictures to be uploaded as there are a lot of unboxed cars that we haven't photographed yet.
I think there is between 200 - 250 cars in total boxed and unboxed.
We don't have a clue about these cars and the value of them or rarity from the subtle differences.
Most likely the majority of them will be listed on ebay or to any collectors interested here ? some day soon but hopefully with the help of this site we can identify if there is some really rare cars in the collection we will most likely keep hold of for our children in the future.

I did a quick look through most of the pictures and didn't see any real rare models but that is just from a quick look. I am interested in the Major Packs if you decide to sell though. It looks like there are a lot of nice models and you should do very well however you decide to move them.

I have an interest in the 68 military radio Truck, the 53 Aston Martin, and perhaps the 73 Military Tanker if they are to be sold. The models really appear to be very clean, but I too could not find any rarities that I can warn you about. It is a very nice collection, with models like the 27 Trailer able to command high demand in the market place. I did see a 22 and perhaps a convertible that have been 2 tone painted over, so they should be advertised as such and not mistaken for anything but that. Thank You for showing all of them here, and hopefully we can help you sell them off for your friend. kwakers

Hi JMB

Thanks for showing us these, also I dont see really rare models. But stil there are many models that I would price between 25-70£, but selling them on ebay will be a big job. I think if you sell here you will sell a big handfull of them, please just dont go on ebay and compare with Harveys Matchbox, then there will be no buyers here. But ask the forum we are very fair and you will get the right market price, also remember that ebay is not free. Good luck with it ;)

I also can't see any obvious super-rarities, but there are a lot of mint/boxed models that would command decent prices. It is a pity the pictures are not brighter and better focused, or we may be able to detect more subtle variations.

One thing that I did notice was the No. 59 Van with decal door guides, but with no trace of any of the Singer decals. As this seems to be a mint model, the lack of any trace of decals seems unusual. It is not something that would add a premium to the price but it is a curiosity and perhaps a discussion point? Were 'unbranded' models sent to America?

We know that unbranded 11b and 25c tankers were sent to the DDR. Could some 59a Singer Vans have made it to behind the Iron Curtian as well?

Hello Everyone,

Thank you all for taking the time to read my post and look at the pictures.
I have spoke to my friend and he just wants me to get rid of them for as much as possible lol.
I work for myself I am a electronics engineer i sell on ebay and amazon all day every day my user id is JMBDirect. I mainly focus on repairing apple items so if anyone has anything they have laying about working or not i would consider some kind of part exchange.
I think it would be best if i give everyone here the opportunity to own these cars as im sure they will help somebodys collection and will be well looked after for future generations to enjoy.
I don't mind selling here ebay or amazon as long as the price is right.

If everyone can inbox me with a list of the cars they want with individual prices i will tell you if it acceptable.
All items will be sent 2nd class recorded minimum or for higher value items they will be sent special delivery before 1pm.
