62a Decal question

Can anyone provide any information on the decals on this 62a? It is Nick's code 1, but has square red cross decals on both sides (instead of the normal round decals) and "ambulance" decals on the front and back.

I have never seen those decals before, It's probably something a railroad modeller would do.
