Corgi Juniors Batmobile variations
Hey guys,
I have two Corgi Juniors Batmobiles & 1 Husky Batmobile. For myself, I prefer the husky as the colour and detail looks much nicer. Even though the two Corgi ones intrigue me as the bases are different.
1 has "National Periodical Publications" and the other has "DC Comics Inc". Are these as common as each other or is one rarer than the other?
I may well place some pics up here at some point but it's the usual story that they are all packed away somewhere and I can't remember where.

Re: Corgi Juniors Batmobile variations
The harder to find versions have the Husky upper body with twin painted figures combined with Whizzwheels baseplates. The low cost casting that replaced this original body shell was made by the millions and tends to only have value when sealed in the original blister

Re: Corgi Juniors Batmobile variations
'National Periodicals Publications' was officially reformed into 'DC Comics Inc' during 1977, but essentially they were still the same company, publishing Super hero Comics etc and issuing Licences to companies for the production of merchandise, I.E. the toys and games we all brought because we wanted to get involved with Batman's capers on TV...

Re: Corgi Juniors Batmobile variations
All diecast base batmobiles made before 1972, the plastic base and overworked casting was released around 1973 and was sold until the 80´s.
Diecast base batmobiles starts with Husky bases in the 60´s and transmitted into Whizzwheels era at the begining of the 70´s.
Some nice variations there with CJ labels, casting differences and rare wheel versions.
Plastic base batmobiles are available without any problem but there are variations with different labels, clear windows and wheel variations, that
are htf.
There was also a very nice Playart Batmobile, sold at Woolworths under the Peelers logo in the 70´s.
Hope that helps

Re: Corgi Juniors Batmobile variations
I know this is a really old thread but my latest purchase, and question fit the subject as addressed above.
I just found a Husky Batmobile with a Corgi Juniors base but still having the grey plastic Husky wheels. Since the die has been modified to remove the Husky name, but not have the Wizz wheels, I would imagine this to be an early change away from Husky.
How many others have a similar version and, is it HTF?
As a second question, Ramsays guide puts a carded 1976-1980 #69 Batmobile (which I also just got) at 75-100 pounds. To me that seems high given the number floating about. Does anyone have a estimate on these later carded versions? (I was also able to pick up a Batcopter and Spidercopter from the same source)
Lastly, are there any variations on these later 3 that I should be looking for?
Thanks Chris

Re: Corgi Juniors Batmobile variations
I believe these are the Four main versions...
1, Grey wheels, no Towhook - metal rear axle
2, Grey wheels, no Towhook - plastic rear axle
3, Grey wheels, Towhook
4, Grey wheels, Towhook with Corgi stickers
Models with the plastic rear axle use a 'Cam' bend in the axle to operate the flame effect.
I think any Batboat, Batcopter and Spidercopter are more valuable in good condition because they were not as popular as wheeled vehicles you could push along a surface.
If you have a Husky Batmobile with the 'CORGI Juniors' sticker, with all plastic rear wheel and axle assembly, this is hard to find. The real Juinors versions have low friction wheels with hot foil 'Chrome' effect finish, then un-foiled wheels then a mixture of designs with and without foil again, but these are quite a long way away in production from yours.

Re: Corgi Juniors Batmobile variations
Having searched for pictures of various bottoms, I have found at least 3. The first with Husky and a picture of The Batman, a second with a raised blank panel where Husky was and The Batman still on, and a third with Wizz Wheels and Corgi Juniors cast into the base.
Since I already has one of the first version, I can compare this new one to it and can see this is a change to the mold to omit the Husky name, done before the new replacement base was designed. This base does have the flame and tow eye.

It is this second base I am working with now.

Re: Corgi Juniors Batmobile variations
In its simplest form, the transition from 'HUSKY' to 'JUNIORS' was as simple as putting stickers on baseplates!
