A few more Pre War.......

Hi all,
I've spent good money on crumbling old stuff again, but Pre War Dinky is like crack to me, I can't stop myself.
Picked these up over the last few weeks........
The 25 Series lorries are actually very nice, and the Type 1 is pretty rare being 1934 - 35 only, I already have his Type 2 1935 - 40 brother...

Nice models Chris and I can see why you can't resist "crumbling old stuff" like those. They must 'cry out' to you to be purchased, as examples of someones previously loved toys just waiting for a new home.
I am glad there are collectors out there like you who still find these coming onto the collectors market and able to secure them for your own collection and to show them here on the forum for others to enjoy,
Regards and keep on collecting,
GHOSTHUNTER.

Cheers Mate,
I've said before that for me the Pre War Dinky's have a simple charm all their own. In the same way a new Bentley is all very nice, but it ain't the true spirit of the brand like a '29 blower 3 litre, so the later Dinky stuff is wonderful, but just not quite so thoroughbred.
I love the thought that the lads who played with these are well over 80 now, and you don't need to spend an arm and a leg, just go through all the other sh#t on searches like "old toy lorry" and see what turns up!

Very nice indeed - and unless my eyesight is shot, not at all crumbly
You have rumbled my scientific search methods too - I find much of the fun is in the hunting!

Hi all,
Another one in the Pre War set, and a casting I haven't already got, No29 AEC Q Type bus, weird scale for a Dinky, Matchbox size.

Very nice, I love seeing these oldies. I didn't realise the scale of the bus though.

Hi John,
Here's a good size indicator......
Given that these were originally sold as railway accessories, and the "normal" 29 series was nominally 00 scale, and is about twice the size, I have no idea what the thinking was with this one, the 29 series tram is the same size too.
Bet all the Reg wheels lads want one now.......

I love these buses. There was one on ebay a while back along with a 5b or something similar, listed really badly. I had it on watch but a couple of days before the end someone must have contacted the seller as the listing was pulled......
I'm probably over-cautious but if I spot something like that I won't even ask the seller a question just in case it makes them curious enough to do some research!
