Desert Island Diecast.

Post by GHOSTHUNTER »

Here is the Dinky Toys version of something started by "Motorman" for Matchbox models. Your'e on a Desert Island with only 5 Dinky Toys, what are the 5 Dinky Toys models you would have with you, to admire for ever, never to change?

The only criteria are they have to have the brand name of 'DINKY TOYS' cast onto the baseplate.

Right, to start with, my 5 Dinky Toys are...

1. #158 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow Saloon in metallic blue, early issue with correct wheel trims.
2. #100 Lady Penelope's "FAB I" Rolls-Royce, early issue with the same tyres as the Rolls-Royce above.
3. #917 Mercedes-Benz Truck and Trailer in blue and yellow.
4. #402 Bedford TK 'Coca-Cola' delivery lorry.
5. #106 The Prisoner Mini Moke.

Oh so hard!

OK,

Foden type 2 Tanker "Mobilgas"
Big Bedford box van, "Heinz" with the sauce bottle.
28 Type 2 van "Bentalls"
25 Type 2 covered lorry "Carter Patterson"
Guy van "Spratts"

That was off the top of my head, as I could spend all year on different versions!

Hello Chris, thank's for your five 'Desert Island Dinks'. It is quite hard and my own five were off the top of my head as well, because if you sat down with catalogues or was actually standing by your collection, I think it would be almost impossible to keep it to just five, but five it is and a bit fun.

I see you included the 'Heinz' lorry, a worthy inclusion on any listing of favourite models. All the models on my list were in my collection having grown up with them, so each one means something to me, have never owned any Dinky Toys of the type on your list.

Regards,

Ghosty.
