I guess its buyer beware!

I truly feel sorry for people that don't do their homework. Prime example why repaints unless stated give the market a bad name.

Ebay item #121353444990

http://www.ebay.com/itm/121353444990?_t ... EBIDX%3AIT

Don't think the seller knows any better but please do your homework before bidding. Wrong decal, Wrong color, Wrong trim...

You sum it up ... it's all just plain wrong.

I think you are right about the Seller not knowing any better, but this is a costly non-authentic model that may tarnish his Dad's estate sale once the smoke clears. I didn't spot this one, but usually will private message a Seller on something like this model, even after it has sold. The point is to make the Seller aware of a re-paint, and to see what their reaction is. Honest/ Dishonest? The Seller's message back to me, and his attitude on the 'bad' sale tells me everything I need to know about their honesty. kwakers

I have contacted the Seller, and will share his reply to me here later. I believe his Dad used this one as a 'Filler' for the rare promotional Beales Bealson with the family member/Seller not realizing that. He has apparently sold it to an uneducated new(?) collector, and I gave the Seller information so HE can get to Nick's excellent site to see the authentic colors and decals there. Maybe the same Buyer/ Investor on the BLUE 11A Tanker?? It is a fool's PARADE, lets all watch from the Pub. We may have even had our march in it many times as we bet on 'rare' re-paints we have found over the years.......LOL kwakers

The Seller replied to my E Bay message stating that he would contact the Buyer of the Beales. He did say that he assumes the Buyer should already be aware of what I had told him in order to have bought it, but I now smell a rookie investor on the Beales and maybe also on the 1990 re-pro Lesney models also. The Seller has just lost his job, so is forced to start selling a bit on E Bay. He made no excuses, was friendly and very nice, but did not comment on Nick's site I had sent him to. If he and his Buyers do not study, watch for more Bargains like these in the coming weeks.....LOL kwakers

In this instant both seller and buyer are "innocent" as seller claims item is from a deceased estate and buyer did not do his homework at school or is an unsuspecting newbie. This situation or similar is dangerous especially when custom collectors peg-off and then these models hit the open markets.

I have been in regular contact with this E Bay Seller now. As we had suspected, she is selling Dad's collection with no working knowledge of Lesneys at all. She cancelled the sale on the Beales and refunded $$ after explaining to the Buyer that it was a 'Custom Filler' that Dad probably had done (by perhaps Tinman and I's old friend Baraby. His work was very nice, but his restoration paints were far enough away in color so that they could be told from the original rare models they mimicked).
If you use the original E Bay link above with 'Seller's other listings', you will help an honest daughter sell off Dad's collection which includes a 32A in red, 22B in rare colors with carefully removed overpaint, that filler Bealsons Van, and many other nice Lesneys she will list as time goes on. She has turned out to be one of the very honest Sellers we enjoy dealing with on E Bay! kwakers

Very interesting for this returnee to MB...I always have Nick's site open in another window to get the sense of what I should be looking for (can't thank you enough for your *really* excellent site, Nick!!).
Looking at the listing for this one, I can see what kwakers points out...
Seller has relisted as "custom reproduction" - great signal and outcome for some terrific outreach!!
