Some May Additions

A few new additions for May. Still have a lot of the Kings & Majors to go but slowly I am getting some nice representations of each of them.
A2 - Bedford Car Transporter - Black Plastic Wheels - mint decals
A2 - Bedford Car Transporter - Gray Plastic Wheels - mint decals
K10 - Aveling Barford Tractor Shovel - no box
K10 - Pipe Truck - had to replace a badly torn cellophane window
K24 - Lamborghini Miura - going to eventually upgrade this one, a few wheel well chips
K19 - Scammel Tipper Truck - had to also replace the torn cellophane on this box as well
Here is a picture of the torn cellophane on the K19
If anyone is interested I will post pics how to replace the cellophane professionally. I used to restore comic books so find this almost easy compared to doing a torn cover.

I have replaced a few windows, but by using widows of boxes where the cardboard part was trashed in some way. Missing flaps or graffiti etc. What material do you use? I find most of the acrylic sheet on the market is too thick.

Hydra i would be interested to see how you replace the cello.....i have a few Corgi models in window boxes were the cello has seen better days. Can you also advise on where you can source a good quality cello. My other fear would be to use a glue that bleeds through the cardboard box so maybe you can explain what adhesive you are using to get the perfect finish. Thanks.

Motorman, I actually use a product from the comic book market place. It's what we used to store our better comics in. It is a product called Mylites - I use the 2mil variety as this seems to work best. I cut the Mylites into sheets and then cut them down to match the actual size used. I thought about using regular Elmer's glue but this does not stick to the Mylite surface very well. After trying several other items I ended up using clear silicone like you would use to seal around windows & doors. Sticks well and will not bleed through, A very thin bead does the trick. This product mimics the actual cellophane very well. The 1mil variety is just to thin, anything thicker is almost impossible to work with. The one thing I like about it is that it's crystal clear!

Thanks John, The use of silicon suprises me as this can have a strong smell and i would have thought it might stain the card. However i will take your word for it that it works and I will give it a blast on some beaten up window boxes first before trying some of the better conditions ones.

Motorman, I took a look at the product I am using and it is actually Caulk, not Silicone. I believe it is made by DAP and is called Kwik Seal Kitchen & Bath Adhesive Caulk. Sorry for the confusion.

Alex my wifey is in to card crafting and uses an adhesive that does not stain her cards ,I would suggest you try to find a card craft shop or maybe look online as there are lots of products around the one she favours is called PINFLAIR GLUE GEL and is silicon free it comes with a syringe applicator and costs about £6 for a 80ml tube
hope this helps

Thanks John for clearing that up and Reg many thanks to your Wifey for her wonderful tip. I think the adhesive would be easier to apply from a syringe that from a silicon gun!!!
