Norev Microminiatures

Post by Ewan »

Not exactly Vintage British Diecast but I feel sorry for this empty thread. If this offends anyone's tastes please delete it :D

Strictly conforming to my 'collect what you like' policy, I have a bit of an interest in old French trucks. Sparked by Budgie's Renault and then really fuelled by a post on the old forum showing some gorgeous small scale CIJ models this interest saw me 'googling' my way around the internet until I came to http://www.87thscale.info

Norev Microminiatures were made in the 1960s, mostly plastic with some diecast and they decided to resurrect the range in the 2000s which was when my Unic was made in China (Both European and Far East!). The artwork on the rear of the box shows some of the reintroduced models together with the new Renault Kangoo. There seem to be quite a lot of the dumptrucks, milk tankers and 'Titan' bulk tippers on ebay 'Buy It Now', and I've also seen some of the original milk tankers on ebay auctions. I got the 'Titan' cheaply on auction, but the tanker is probably even nicer so of course I haven't seen one yet  If you check the 87thscale site out they have a photo of the tanker in BP colours which is very smart. Does anyone else like/collect these? Any originals out there?

1/87th is a collectable scale in Germany,1/64 is just a toy to most in Europe.

It is not. It is only a Far East model, even if it is a model of a European vehicle and made from a mould and sold under a brand which originated in Europe.

Otherwise you would have to call all Matchbox models of European vehicles made in Hong Kong, Macau, China and Thailand from moulds which had been created in England "both European and Far East" as well!

I collect only the Citroën DS models from this range:

These were all made in France, for the mould was sold to Anguplas of Spain in the mid 1960s and ended up with Eko, precluding it from being resurrected by Norev in more recent times.

I have a few Micro Norevs in my collection, I rather like them, they have some nice detail.
Even though they are plastic, each model is made with a little metal weight inside, to give it some heft.
At 1/87 they are are tiny in caparison to the Lesney's

Nice collection you have. These are very nice allthough Norev is more known from it's 1/43 models. They were very popular in the '70s when I was young.

Check out this French forum dedicated to Norev :
