I got this one at sandown today not sure about it axle ends don't look right the print on one of the decals is a bit off
am I correct in thinking original decals are slightly raised on the printing as they are on this one (sure I saw it somewhere on here)
wasn't expensive so I'm happy with it anyway

Yes Reg, If you run your fingernail over the lettering of the decal you will feel the letters, If the decal is smooth it is a reproduction,

The bulk of the reproduction decals are created by the same screen printing process. The newer decals don't have the same thickness of ink layered upon them, none the less, you can still feel the layers on a good reproduction decal too.
It might be time to start my "Bucket List."

Mike, I'm 99% sure the decal on your model is a reproduction (without even seeing it in person). The type is all wrong, the spacing is all wrong. The "G" in sewing is all but touching the "S" in machines. Compare it to the rest of your 59a models. It's still a nice model (and hard to find), I wouldn't mess with it but you need to know it's not an original decal!

I have examined my variation code 1 59a and it has rectangular door decals (as would be expected given the position of the decal guides on subsequent releases).
I agree with Joe: the decal is question is a replacement.

I have to agree the label looks very much like reproduction labels I have seen. That being said, this is one of my all time favorite Matchbox RW models.
