Wrong Ghosty, the instructions state "Just add Vodka...stand back and watch them grow!"

no they all have their own boxes just showed one as an example , the boxes are not made from card but from what seems to be a thick paper

Yes Reg, they are Volga cars, they are the series 24, called GAZ-24 and first available from 1968 to the mid 1980's in various forms.
The models in your pictures are GAZ-24 (24 denoting saloon with single headlamps), and several Russian based toy companies have made models of almost the same car. Yours however seem to have come from the factory making the real car as a promotional hence the logo on the box and the three letter name on the base under the front axle housing...Gorky Automotive Plant (BUT OF COURSE IN RUSSIAN), and I have posted a picture of the factory logo below, the same logo appearing on the box for your models.
An earlier version of the car had a bonnet mascot designed as a miniature deer and that is also used in their logo.
