selling my regular wheel collection at vectis

Post by matchboxgrizzly »

Hello to the Forum!

I was back in a train from Cologne and had a little time "Surfing" through the Internet.... and so I saw that Vectis Auctions has their 25th anniversary this year and that they are looking for good collections ...

In the past years it was very difficult for me to find new models for my collection ( you will know soon why....)

Back home I contacted vectis and send them my lists and they were very interested to sell my collection. From one day to another I said yes and at the day I write this Topic the collection is still at Vectis Auctions....

I had a few weeks time for accurate checking my lists and I made a lot of photos and short Video Clips for myself.

BUT WHY NOT LET YOU KNOW EARLY ABOUT THE SALE and my collection - here is a link of the first part of my regular wheel collection at YouTube

Have fun and enjoy ! - I was nearby to stop the sale to Vectis in the moment I had my rare models in my hand the last time!!!!

Anyway - I will be a collector also in the future time and so I reserve about 100 models with only slight box variations for a new start! Now I will slow down collecting and I also have hold around 200 Dinky and Corgi - so my home Displays are not fully empty!

here is the link to the first part of my RW collection at YouTube:

sorry for the bad English - the people who knows me know that I was grow up in East Germany and only had a little English lessons at School....

collecting greetings yours Ralph from Germany (better known as matchboxgrizzly....)

Ralph, Many thanks for sharing your story and your video. And I couldn't agree more that the combination of music and that seemingly endless train of one vintage treasure after another was simply stunning.
As a vintage regular wheel variation hunter myself I had certainly heard the legendary stories of the "Matchbox Grizzly" and his twin tan Magirus-Deutz crane trucks. To have the Grizzly wander out of the woods, tell his story and take us on a video tour of that legendary assembly of pristine Lesney history was a genuine pleasure. Thank you!
It is going to be both fun and somewhat sad watching this Vectis sale approach and pass. Please keep us in the loop if a new youtube posting is available with the type D, E and F boxed models.

Top music of Pink Floyd, to Ralph's models.
My models hear live music by AC/DC.

Very well summed up by Greg. A fantastic display Ralph and a delight to see such a collection (or part of it!) let's hope the models go to good homes and give different collectors lots of joy.

always makes me sad to see someone selling off their collection...good luck i hope you make loads of money!
Please use a web hosting site (like photobucket) to store pictures so you can post them here, using attachments makes it hard to view the pictures when you have to scroll to see them. Seeing comparisons of models is hard to see with attachments too.

Wonderful video Ralph. Such a shame to see that collection split up.

All I can say is wow. What a labor of love, and no doubt the time involved is as much as the monetary expense. Must be painful to break it, but sometimes it is just time to move on. I am sure Vectis was more than happy to take this on.

Really cool seeing all of the box varieties beside each other, too.
