Hi all,
I have managed to pick up another Pre War 28, the Wakefield Castrol Oil van, in a Type 2 (1936 - 39 ish) Ford casting.

It shows no sign of fatigue for once, just playwear,

Here he is with his Brothers (who are too delicate to take out!) in the cabinet.

Luckily I have his 25 Series Tanker Brother too...

I know that most of my fellow collectors think I need my head looking at for collecting this stuff, but for me these are the TRUE Dinky toys, at least they were designed whilst Frank Hornby was still alive!

Lovely, lovely, lovely :D
Don't think there's anything wrong with your head mate, not every collection has to be mint and boxed in order to be interesting.

Hi all,
Got another one, :D 28w / 3 Osram van............

This one had no axles or hubs, but I had a spare Pre War axle with a pair of black hubs, tyres are wrong, but the hubs had grown due to the fatigue, and these would fit!

BTW, I have finally begun a project that I have meant to do for 20 odd years, a complete database of all the van variations that began before the war,22c, 22d, 28, 280, 34c, 492, with all variations, and pictures where they exist, took me a night to do 22c, but they're easy! Might do some copies when done if anybody wants one?

These are quite beautiful.

How bad is the metal to fatigue on these?

Bit of a bargain as it was listed simply as "Meccano Dinky Van", Winner!
Only another 69 to go.
