Re: going thru my stash
This is not from the game but sold new in the box...with the box having a yellow car you would think the yellow one would be common ..what colour is the common one, I've got two red ones with different labels, but no yellow one.
Re: going thru my stash
I thought this was cool... I'm after a box (home) for this if anyone has one...
Re: going thru my stash
I brought this on a NZ auction site... Has 3y transfers on both doors,,, Might not be factory but very well placed . Does anyone else have models with funky tranfers?. funny part is they look factory and very well done.
Re: going thru my stash
Anther car in my stash..I don't have one with the box label, which is the not common one?..

Hi Maldat,
The MB24 racing car is an interesting one. As you say the box depicts a yellow racing car but as far as I'm aware it always came with a red car.
You mention the blue car coming from a game which is the only way I thought you could obtain one. I lived in England for 10 years and went to numerous toy fairs while I was over there. Very rarely saw one and when I did, it had come out of the view master game according to the owner.
Now back in New Zealand I have picked up five or six of them! I never thought I'd own one, let alone six! That got me wondering if they had come in the normal box over here and your comment confirms that.
I've never seen the game over here but plenty of blue racing cars. I wonder if the surplus ones were boxed up and sent to New Zealand. There are certainly plenty of examples of certain colour models being plentiful in only one or two countries.
Cheers Steve

Maldat,
Steve is right that the yellow and blue Team Matchbox cars come up quite frequently here compared to the UK. The red is definitely the most common one though. I've found the orange one the hardest to find.
Not sure what I'm looking at with the Chop Suey - looks normal to me? The black fork version is reasonably hard to find though. Chrome forks very hard to find.
The Fandango is less common with the 6 label, it's usually found with the 35 label as on the box (both red and white cars), but not too hard to find with 6. There are many variants of Fandango which makes it fun - labels, different coloured body, fan, interior, windows and base in a multitude of combinations, many tough to find.
I think the decals on the Monteverdi did not originate in the Lesney factory.
The type J box for the Rescue Hovercraft is reasonably easy to come by, but I doubt this particular variant came in the standard box - this colourway is from the Adventure 2000 set, so somewhat harder to come by than the normal Metallic Lime Green with tan base/skirt.
Cheers,
Gavin

Ghosty that looks like an image of the viewmaster set Naji bought last year, a totally mint boxed set and he paid a high price for it as well!!!! He posted a few images on the old Forum if you can track them down.
