I don't follow the products of Rolls-Royce as closely as the older products, since the takeover by VW and BMW, and it's a pity they are not showing as much imagination as they used to, by re-using so many previous car names. So far they have used Phantom (OK, in a singular sense), Ghost, Wraith and the forthcoming Shadow, they seem not able to think of new names!

Regards the new crop of Rolls-Royce cars, yes they are fantastic creations, made in a manner Henry Royce would approve of, the company despite German ownership is more or less able to control it's own affairs, but of course with access to the BMW parts bins.

The Wraith is packed with technology (as are current BMW's), and if my own personal experience in the breakdown and recovery business is anything to go by, there is a lot more to go wrong and any inherent problems with BMW cars, will filter down into Rolls-Royce cars, I have seen it happen.

Regards the looks and design of the new cars, this is of course personal and when the first new Phantom came out, I was in Knutsford (where Royce lived and executed many designs from his cottage), I went along to the dealer to have a look, by-Christ that was one big motor, the biggest diameter wheels on a production car at that time!

They certainly have road presence and the only design part it is taking a long time for me to accept, is the lack of proper bumpers and the slanting grille.

If someone were to give me one, yes, I could live with it, but I reckon I would still use my old Shadow more than the new one!
