Budgie Trucks

Post by nickjones »

As promised here are the pics of my Budgie trucks collection, Like many of the morris & stone, morestone and budgie toys they can suffer from fatigue but with the variety of vehicle types they make an interesting display. A davis tyres matchbox kingsize has been added to give some idea of the scale, also a matchbox centurion tank has been used as I don't have the correct tank to show, re the tank transporter, its the same rig as Ewan needs for his orange crawler but the one he needs is orange and tan.

Very nice collection there Nick, the Pluto is my favourite but that Superfueller looks great too.

Yes Nick, a nice collection you have there and a 'breath of fresh' air among all the Matchbox models on the forum. Companies such as Budgie have always been in the shadow of "Matchbox" and this goes to show just how Mega-Successful Lesney were, in the sales and marketing of their product lines over the years.

Thank's for showing them.

What's the BP Truck with the large green area behind the cab modeled after?

I think the tractor unit may be an AEC Mammoth Major.

A Mammoth Major 6, despite actually having 8 wheels on twin axles at the rear! the 6 is arrived at by the number of weight distribution points, 3 axles each carrying at least one wheel.

I found a pic of the actual Mammoth Major BP tanker. I thought I'd post it here.
