Here as promised are the pics of my recently acquired Bomag prepro. As I don't have a standard Bomag to compare it to I have tried to show all angles in case there are any differences other than the colour and the casting hole beside the door. The paint seems thinner than normal for a SF to me - is that usual for a prepro?

I don't know much about the Bomag, But the hole is a result of the molten mazac being injected into the dies under low pressure, Once any necessary alterations were made to the dies they would have been case (or face) hardened and then run at full pressure.

I would say it's normal for pre-productions to have considerably thicker paint (my yellow Rover 3500 does have such - noticeably a lot thicker than the bronze paint). I have noticed your pre-pro Bomag has white interior, while production run has red. I think Christian has to add your variation to his site now ;)

I think you're very lucky for having acquired this model, congratulations. I remember very clear the day I found my yellow Rover 3500 8-)

Thanks for the hole explanation Nick, I learn something new every day :D
Thanks for the congrats Nikolay - I would be very honoured indeed if Christian added it to his site. I see there is a prepro Bomag there already, but a different colour if I remember right.
