Cab of M8a

This is actually a Thornycroft Trident, but the cab looks very similar to the M8a. The first example of this cab design I have seen live.

On display at the Milestones Museum in Basingstoke, Hampshire, which specialises in Thornycroft. Sadly no Antar (M3a) though.

Hi Christian, You can see a Thornycroft Antar complete with Sankey trailer at the Duxford air museum, its quite an impressive piece.

Back in the early 80s there used to be a cb radio / truck spares shop which used an Antar as a heavy recovery truck, based at the Rayleigh wier roundabout jeez that was a big rig

Nice pic Bob, It looks to me like the Antar and the Nippy shared a cab. no not a taxi, the drivers cabs are the same,
Also when you notice the drivers elbow sticking out of the Antar's window you realise what a monster the Antar was. It weighed in at 27 tons I believe.

...and my contribution here is that the 'Mighty Antar' used Rover V-8 engines made under licence from Rolls-Royce, (the Rolls-Royce 'Meteorite'), later Antars used Rolls-Royce sourced Diesel Meteorites.

Picture was taken at "The Great Dorset Steam Fair". The diesel boys like to have a go in the playpen, and put some great combinations together.
