Just watched the Ipcress File (1965) featuring a young Michael Caine, on our Classic Movie channel and forgot..
1. How good it is
2. The number of Matchbox models that are featured
Can anyone think of any other films that feature many of the Matchbox range?

An episode of "321", a quizzy-game show from the UK, had what looked like a "Matchbox" truck as part of a clue for the contestants to workout what the prize was it represented.
Was unable to record it last time around, but will try and capture for a posting here.

There is only one show called 'Pawn Stars' on our U.S. television that featured a local Las Vegas Matchbox collector pawning two totes full of mint and boxed early Moko Lesneys. They pulled out and showed a GPW 25 Tanker, and also a Coronation Coach with King and Queen, both in mint boxes. The toy 'expert' they brought in gave them the go-ahead on a pawn of $20,000, making the comment that he would buy the collection if the customer never re-deemed it from them. The customer/ collector pawning them assured the audience that he would be back before the 30 day pawn period would end.
An interesting note on that same 'toy expert' is the fact that a partner of his recently offered and sold an 11A green Tanker on U.S. E Bay for $200. I had to send him a note to advise him the model was a very nice repaint, complete with it's later base brace casting. My note included a reference to an early yellow Tanker being sold with a nice clear picture of it's early brace-less base for them to compare their 'fake' green one with. The Seller Thanked me, told me he would alert his Buyer, and his Lesney sale seemed to end with just that one model. I lost track after a month had passed with no other Mokos being offered by him.......kwakers

Interesting...the 'Porn Stars' shows we get in the UK, doesn't show a lot of Matchbox models...

I've just braved the deserted halls of the old forum (nothing new to be seen there except for a couple of recently discarded champagne bottles - obviously Ghosty's been poking about) and have managed to find the Thunderbirds post. Not only that, but the link still works, so here it is (again):
"Fans of Gerry Anderson might be interested in a short article I found (
here) which details how he used then readily-available diecasts to provide road vehicles for series such as Thunderbirds.and Captain Scarlet (which was loads better than Thurderbirds!)."

Sorry about the empty Champagne bottles, looks like the dustbins in the old place have been taken away and 'E-Bayed'.
That particular Gerry Anderson site is one of the better ones I visit, very informative and mostly very accurate. It has a great 'OLD TOYS' section featuring lots of 'GA' themed subjects, I have been a fan of his material since the first showing of 'Stingray' on British TV and thoroughly recommended this site.

Hi all,
last time I watched Tv and we all know the advertisement is much longer than the film
It was a spot for Iglo's new fish sticks but this is unimportant. For a short moment I thought I have seen a matchbox in the ad.
I have done some research and find the spot on youtube and YES there is a Superfast #29 'Code Red' Fire Pumper!
Here is the link. Try to stop at 0:19 and have a look

I hope this will work in your countries, too.
