Got a Light?
Got a Light?
I'm not sure what this model is, perhaps an Opel, but it's from Japan and quite nicely made. Probably mass produced at the time. You press the button on the bonnet and the boot lid pops open so you can light your after dinner cigar in style. (a la Ghosty?)

Re: Got a Light?
Hello Johnboy,
It is based on a Ford Model 'T' and was made in Japan.
The original company to make this sort of thing was 'WACO' and they have been featured before between our two most recent forum's. The 'WACO' models tended to have a Radio unit fitted inside, but I do know of a Rolls-Royce with a lighter unit instead of the Radio.
The actual example you have shown seems to be from a later period than actual 'WACO' models and is possibly one of the many copies, still from Japan, but not always marketed under a 'Brand' name. I have several Rolls-Royce versions in my collection, with Radios and without Radios and as kit versions. The original 'WACO' version would have come from the 1970's (can't get to my 'WACO' files at the moment for the exact date), but by the early 1980's they were being marketed by someone else, usually without Radio or lighter units fitted.

Thanks Ghosty for the rapid info. It's quite tactile, if you know what I mean, not really suitable if you want to pop out for a quick fag though. (sorry guys across the pond, that means a cigarette over here).GHOSTHUNTER wrote:Hello Johnboy,

Don't let Nico play with that 'Hot Truck' Mike! Both the model 'T' and the Tow Truck are part of the vanishing era of smoking accessories we once enjoyed in America. We are becoming a nation in the U.S. that is now considering laws against smoking outside if the 'rights' of others are affected. What a bunch of creeps and self centered idiots and crybabies we Yanks have to deal with now......... I may have to join Nick on the seas if this continues.
The word Fag is now considered quite unacceptable over here Johnboy, no matter what the context. Next comes public book burnings I guess.....
I did get one hell of a laugh over your stepping out for a fag Johnboy, I am glad we do not have 'thought Police' yet..... kwakers
