I have two green wheeled versions (though one on left has a lot of paint worn off from play wear). One has axle on smaller wheels painted green as if sprayed with both wheels and axles on, whereas the other has both axles unpainted.

My only one is like your one on right, with front axle painted and rear axle not.

Both are genuine, The green wheeled version is the earliest and it is very hard to find outside of the UK.

Glad to hear they are both genuine variations. Just checked my green wheeled one in my for sale models. That has both axles unpainted.

Hi Tandyfan.
Rotate the axle and see if it is not painted on the other side.
The green wheeled version should have the front axle and wheels fully painted, The rear axle and the inside faces of the rear wheels should be unpainted.

The reason they are this way is because the rear wheels are painted while off the model and the front wheels were installed on the body and the whole thing painted as a unit. The rear wheels (and axle) can't be put on until the dump bed is joined to the model.

Agreed. (It's interesting that, way back then, the cost savings associated with painting the front wheels
in situ rather than separately were enough to make this worthwhile.)

Here is my dumper from the Enfield Pagaent of Motoring Weekend, it cost £1 and it has the 'Nail' type fixing for the bucket and a green front axle, but the driver has gone for his lunch!
Ghosty.

Actually that particular model was produced whilst there was some major industrial action ongoing. The driver wasn't on his lunch he was manning a Picket line!!!
