Replacing axles
Hi all,
As topic says, what can be used to replace axles. I have done a quick search and have not found any available replacements.
are they available, and if so from who ?
Thanks Scott

Re: Replacing axles
Yeh, ok, more info! changing regular black wheels to chrome hubs,
but I cut both sets of axels in half as I thought it would be easy to get new ones.
I don't have a Dremil, probably one of the only tools I don't have, never needed one.
so now I need to find something to replace them.
Thanks again Scott

Re: Replacing axles
You screwed up. You need a dremmel to remove the small peened or rounded over ends from the existing axles.
Your options are:
Use axles from another beater.
Buy a replacement axle system (like the ones sold on ebay by Andy McCoy).
Or buy new axles. The new axles are a touch larger than most older wheels and you will need a small bit, a pin vice or a dremmel to open up the holes.
The last new axles I bought were inexpensive and they came directly from a dealer in Hong Kong. He sells on ebay.

Re: Replacing axles
Cool, thanks again for info. I don't have many Beaters, people in OZ seem to think that just because its old it is worth heaps.
they think that all old matchbox are rare and always want to much for them !!

Is there any chance you could point out the dealer to me? thanksTinman wrote:You screwed up. You need a dremmel to remove the small peened or rounded over ends from the existing axles.

There's nothing regular about wheels

Re: Replacing axles
My personal record system is a disaster. Some stuff is written on receipts, some on scraps of paper from a notepad, some stuff on the computer and all of it buried under somthing else, some items are misplaced or (the worst) some things put aside in some special place which I don't remember. I would love to post Andy's ebay user name (ADMC something IIRC) or the axle guys name, but I just can't find them right now.
My biggest problem is putting things in a "safe place." I can never seem to remember what I put where and those places are so "safe" that I have trouble finding them. Back in the early to mid 90's, I was making really strong profits from the JP Allen Company. For some reason, I developed a habit of stashing cash for a rainy day. I would take ten $100 dollar bills and put them in a legal size envelope. Then, I would hide those envelopes, each in a different location (I'm still trying to figure out my motovation and reasoning for this). To this day, the wife and I are still finding envelopes stuffed with cash. Our most recent find was this past Christmas, the wife came across one envelope while looking for some Christmas decorations.
I searched (on & off) for a month looking for a diamond ring I have. It's a 2.5 carat diamond in a (tasteful but large) gold ring. I rarely wear it, so I put it in some safe place. I finally found it and decided to relocate it in a different safe place ... I'm now looking for the ring once again.

Slightly concerning Joe!!
It must give you some comfort to know that you are a rich man, even if you can't remember where you put your cash
