I am in need of the original metal door spring variation tandyfan, so you have a nice one there to add to my telephone book of Lesney 'Wants'. I had added that one you are describing recently in pencil to my Stannard's Bible. I have a feeling our friend John, a very detailed Lesney Seller 'Lesney Legacy' on E Bay, had one just like it for sale and I simply was outbid recently on it. Even though he pictured it well, that is a second hand verification of Martin's law. Another collector here may have another example like them. It seems to have been uncoded and unheard of before John's was sold, and you now have shown yours here to add to Nick's Guide. So much for Nick ever being able to 'freeze' his listings at any point, they just keep being added to every week. Great Job tandyfan, now your next job is to Please find the two metal door spring variations for me also.......LOL kwakers ;)

The metal door springs are coded as the second style by Stannard Jason, and I just have not found any in my travels here in the U.S. It is strange that I have not even found a beater over here, but John did sell a mint stock code with steel door springs on Jan. 26 that brought little added premium over the 6 plastic door spring versions sold by him the last 4 months. I missed that sale of his metal spring stock version for $31 with one of his 'Crafted' boxes. They seem to exist here in the U.S. in more limited numbers because I have checked at least 30 at shows here without any success in finding even one. I don't think they are rare at all, just unable to be seen in 99% of E Bay listings and not described because most Sellers don't care which hinges they have. Sometimes even the seasoned collectors that list these Mercedes as spares don't collect these details. kwakers

I agree with Dick that the metal door springs may be overlooked, certainly here in the UK anyway. I don't have Tandyfan's variation but I have 3 code 4's that were included in joblots.
