Crazy Scot did good!!

This is one of my last purchases of this year 2013, a very very light pink SF#5 Lotus Europa which i won on ebay a couple of weeks ago from a very reputable source and fellow forum member.

I waited to post images until i located one of my other thin wheel #5 to do some comparison shots with. (all my models are in storage at the moment)

I can say that it is such an unusual shade and is uniform over the entire bodywork. I saw a similar one a few years ago on ebay and was considerably out bid at that time so i am very very pleased to be the new owner of this one. Hope you like.

Hi MM,nice buys and thanks for showing.
I would look more closely at the light pink lotus for sure signs of sunfade.

Yes Numi, that was my first thought, but it must have been a mighty bright sun to reach the interior of the doors as well..................... And as luck would have it my camera phone has just died on me. More images tomorrow. HAPPY NEW YEAR NUMI!!!

Hi MM,i dont mean to burst your bubble but try immersing this lotus in about 3-4 inches of crystal clear water (preferably pure distilled if u do have some or tap water will suffice) in a glass bowl, view it from all angles and then make up your mind.Thereafter u could give the interior a good clean.
I have no problem with this Lotus being all yours... :D
I hope its the real deal anyway.

Alex, I would have thought that the windscreen would Have been affected if it has faded that much as in the case of my corsair, the little wolseley turned a nice shade of blue too
Looks like a nice find here's hoping

Numi, my bubble is still very much intact thanks.

When i bid for this #5 i did so in the knowledge that it was a very likely to be a sun faded car. I am still of the opinion that this is the most likely explanation for its colour.

Now that i have it in my hand, the colour is uniform throughout the entire bodywork without any obvious hint of original darker pink which is what attracted me to it in the first place. The paint work is also more of a matt finish than the usual glossy pink on a standard #5 it also has a very slight tackiness to it which is unusual.

I have cleaned the interior of the model which was filthy and the windscreen is nice and clear with no sign of any discoloration due to sun light.

I very much respect your advice Numi, but i am not sure what immersing the car in water is going to acheive other than getting it very wet.

Thanks again Bonnie Lass.

Hi Alex, we may end up checking wheel moulding numbers and inner body casting numbers, just to satisfy ourselves that it comes from a period of production pretty close to your other #5 Lotus models in Purple, do other members have several Lotus models to also check their numbers, just to give Alex a starting point and then we can work around that.
