Superb end of year yesteryear

Post by nearlymint »

Last day of the year and what a model to end it with, roof is missing but I am very happy to add this into the collection.
Its one model I never expected to add because of the high prices, must thank my wife for the extra christmas money.

Man that is some find !!! Just use an ordinary roof for now as it also came in a black roof version as well as the yellow and the only difference is the rear window size. I put Ricardo onto a model as I know he was after one with the black roof - I am kicking myself now as it turned out to be the rare interim roof with the bar across the door, just a small triangle cut out in the roof - I would actually call it mega rare.

Hi Mick, can you get the red version with the small triangle just out of interest.
Did not really find this one, it was on ebay.
model has a few chips on the other side but I was happy today as its a lot better condition than I thought. Also had to see it in the hand as well just to confirm
it was genuine.

Bob still got to take her shopping so the model could turn out to be very expensive.
All the best Jason

Jason, you have done it again, what an amazing addition to your collection, you really do have the preverbial collector's 'Green Fingers'. I seem to remember a batch of 'Dusy' componenets was sold via Vectis a while ago and I think there were some yellow roofs amongst them, so they are out there in the private collectors market and if anyone is going to stumble across them, its you... :)

Have a Happier New Year now,

Kevin, the GHOSTHUNTER.

Jason, I have a few with the roof cutout, mostly prepro but never seen a red one with it. Only one I ever found on the red was a box at Hamleys that had half black and half yellow roofs. I only bought one of each as I knew no better back in the early days and up till now had never heard of another till one popped up in Horace's sale and think also another one came up ( maybe Joe recchia)
I do have a different version to all the others though in the same colours as yours - when you look at yours where the roof joins the door uprights the ends are square cut, mine goes right down to a point at the top of the door frame and the other elusive mega rare one where the bar is cast from door to door frame so closing in the triangle cutout.
There was a prepro mentioned in the UK Matchbox mag in plum colour but never seen this one but must be a stunner with the yellow plastics on it. I know you will find it somewhere !!! :D

Thanks for the info Mick, very difficult to find any unusual versions on this model. I think they were all hunted down years ago and stashed away.
Taken my a long time to get this one so another differnet one well fingers crossed.
Does goes well with the one I bought off you a while back(which I think is not one of your favourite prepro,s)
All the best for 2014.
