Hello Mike, your silver RAF Tender is from the 'Giftware' range and would have been mounted on an ashtray. It's not particularly rare or valuable, unless it has casting details to put it into the first production batch from the 1973-74 period, but it is historically interesting, because it was one of only two 'Yesteryear' models launched after the Lesney factory went back to work from a strike period in the mid-70's.
These two models (the other being the Riley MPH, in a half-plated finish) were released before the normal painted production models in Europe during mid-74, as 'Giftware' issues by the Company who did the plating for Lesney which was a seperate concern, but sub-contracted to do the work for Lesney.
I think "YYS4BOB" and "MOYBOY" will be able to tell you more about this item, so for now, bye bye,
GHOSTHUNTER.

It's from the gift ware series. It would have been mounted to dish or tray.
How rear? I don't know. Not that many were produced compared to the standard model you show beside it.
Cheers Steve

Gold versions are known, but are significantly rarer than the silver versions. All the plated versions wore charcoal grey grille, roof and canopy from production. None were issued with tan parts. When the extreme scarcity of painted versions with charcoal components became apparent, many were switched. This is what has happened here.
