Hello Brad, the top tanker of the two you have just shown, looks like a little bit of crystalising taking place around the lower front of the cab, you might like to wash this with a little 'WD40', it will help to halt the damage and keep the paintwork supple to allow any stretching caused by the crystalisation taking effect, while the model is clearly not mint, you want to keep as much paint on the model as you can!

I just managed with Numi's help to replace my decaled 32 Tanker in July of this year from Bob Brennen himself. That one has no tow slot, so I began checking other listings to find one like yours with the later tow slot base. I did manage to find one in August with Ergomatic Cab on it's raised platform and the tow slot. This 32 Tanker could be moved to the suspected missing variations because NAMC as well as Stannard missed the flat based Ergomatic Cab you have shown us here. Harold Colpitts simply noted that all variations could come either raised or flat on their base, but the flat is very seldom seen on any of these Tankers from my experience. Yours shows no signs of the base outline around the script at all, not like most with the outline lower, but still visible. Thanks for showing it for the very stark comparison between the two Brad. Very Nice. kwakers

A model like this is too late for crystallisation (aka fatigue) to be an issue. (We know that Jack Odell was almost paranoid about allowing lead into the works. As a resuly, I have only ever seen one example of a 1 -75 with fatigue, and that was a 1a owned by Rob Newson.)

The 'Chrystalizing' may not be the proper term Idris, but I do know of oxidizing looking like metal breakdown on some Lesneys. It may not be caused by lead contamination, but by moisture effects if it is used, or by improper cleaning or preparation of the Lesney parts at the factory. On only a very few Lesneys, a brand new Toy in the box will show signs of a hazing of paint and lack of paint adhesion in a small area on it. Because they came out of the box that way, I can't really call the effects fatigue either, they have been stored securely side by side with many uneffected versions. I do have a couple in our collection with small problems, and if found, I will try that WD40 idea of Ghosthunters on the effected parts. I seem to recall a fairly rare model having a problem like this with a small area of it's paint and body effected. The metal may not be breaking down, but maybe the white corrosion makes it seem like deterioration is still active? kwakers

Idris and kwakers...OXIDIZATION is a much better term for what I was trying to explain, do you think I could remember it...nope! so thank's for jogging the old brain cells.
