When I was a kid I recived a King Size Guy Warrior Transporter No. K-8 one Christmas. It came with 4 cars - RR Silver Shadow, Lincoln Continental, Iso Grifo, and Ford Zodiac.
Recently I picked up the precursor, a grey-wheel Major Pack Guy Warrior No.8, turquoise cab, orange trailer. Does anyone know if this model ever came with 4 cars as well and if so what were they? Also, am I correct in understanding that they made this model with black tires and that the blacks are more common? I honestly don't ever recall seeing one of these with black tires.

Re: Major Pack Guy Warrior Transporter No. 8
I think both came without cars originally as a it was a separate model in its own right. The M8 had grey tyres and the K8 was always black as far as I know but easy to do a swap. It may well have been the gift set you got.

The first G2 came out about 1960 and used the Accessory Pack transporter. Your Christmas G2 was issued in 1968 and contained the cars you listed (with a K8).
The M8 transpoeter was used in the 1964 & 1965 G2 set and contained: 28c, 32c, 36c, 53b.
The K8 transporter was first issued in a G2 sometime in 1966 (replacing the M8) and the models were changed to: 22c, 28c, 36c, 75b.
Gray tires are the most common on the M8 and black tires are harder to find. when the die was altered and the number changed to K8, the use of black and gray tires seems about the same. By the time the model was changed into all yellow, black tires were the norm. However, much time has passed since these were made and many models have had tires replaced. The reproduction black tire is a dead ringer for the original with the exception that it fits tight on old shrunken hubs. The replacement gray tire is much too light in color and will never confuse anyone. Lot's of tire switching has gone on over the years. This tire is shared with the M4/K4, 69b Hatra and the 28d Mack dump truck (and I may be forgetting others). This means that there is a large group of models that provide replacement tires for each other besides the reproduction tires.

It might be time to start my "Bucket List."

I want to double check the 32c which appears to be the Leyland petrol tanker. Did you mean 32b, Jaguar 'E' Type?Tinmane wrote:

I've noticed very few boxed gift sets for sale on eBay, lots of loose Guy Warrior transporters but scarcely any full sets.

Oops, just noticed the section on giftsets. That answers my question.
