Maybe this has been discussed on the old forum but I was wondering which of the three base variations is most commonly found and also the least found, I have one of each and was just a bit curious

Wouldn't the one with the #38 base be the most common? It would seem obvious as that was the number it was issued with? Hmmm. That said I only have two of these - a standard army green one and a yellow glider twin pack one, and both have the Sleet'n'Snow base, so maybe not?

From my experience, these bases (RN II, #5, #38) were fairly commonly swapped around between models. The ones that are hard to find are the ones whose production times did not overlap. For example, a "Jeep Hot Rod" base on anything except a #2 is quite rare. Note that there are plain army jeeps that just have the word "Jeep" on the base without a number and these are made for the #38 Jeep and NOT the #2. I also think finding a #5 US Mail jeep base on a #38 Jeep or Two-pack issue jeep (or vice versa) is more scarce since the production of these only overlapped for about 1 year (1979). The RN II sleet n snow bases seem to be fairly common on the #38 and Two Pack jeeps and these productions overlapped for 2 years from my understanding (1978, 1979).

To some collectors - e.g. Charlie Mack and myself - a model with a "Jeep Hot Rod" base is by definition a #2, regardless of the body colour. Anyway, the statement is probably supposed to mean that olive green and olive drab Jeeps with the #2 base are quite rare, and I agree with that.

The "Jeep" (without number) and "No.5 U.S. Mail Truck" bases are also considerably less common on olive green Jeeps than the other two bases ("No.38 Jeep" and "No.II Sleet-n-Snow").

The former was an early short run (made for twinpack issues before the model was introduced as a single under number 38), while the latter was a late short run (made after the olive green model had actually been phased out already).

The No.38 and No.II bases are about equally common on olive green Jeeps.

For other colour variations the situation is different, as those had other production lifespans.
