I get a search sidebar and a bloody flashing ad down the bottom telling me I have a message waiting or I have won something and I can't get rid of the crap !! Oh look I've just won an Ipad !! Now it wants to know my favourite supermarket - What a load of @#$&! shit !!

That's strange. I have never seen an ad on this site of any kind and I don't have any ad blockers on my computer.

Same here, no ads, no problems.

There are computer viruses which can insert advertisments into webpages at the browser level.
I would suggest a virus scan as a first step.

There are no ads on this forum Mick, I would suggest it's a virus picked up from another site,

Gone now - don't know where they came from but as soon as I opened up here they came from everywhere. Never had a virus on my comp as usually to well protected and thought at first a browser hijacker but no, all was the same. Hadn't looked at porn in a while so not that either !! I just ended up doing a system restore and all was fine again.
I couldn't open a post, as soon as I got rid of the ads and clicked on a new post they started again - go figure !

I was infected with one of these virus ads before. It sounds like a piece of malware that has attached itself to your computer. I tried a variety of things and eventually there was only one thing that would delete it off. It is called "malwarebytes". It is totally free, but does a really good job of scanning for these types of things. Cleared it right off, and I have never had anything since.

:) :D :P
