Nick,
I don't see that combination in the variation guide. Nor can I find it listed in any variation guide. Crimson or maroon baseplate always = Silver or Black, never Grey wheels.
In fact, that is how it is described in the review from the guide.
"The model was recoloured to metallic green with a pink roof,
The first issue released in the new colour scheme was fitted with clear windows but this was soon changed to green tinted windows and silver wheels, Around this time the trim on the rear bumper was omitted.
Later the baseplate colour was changed back to black for the final issues and this can be found with 9 x 24 grey, silver or black wheels"
I asked this question initially because of a so-called RARE variation with Grey wheels listed on ebay. I suppose If it's not in any variation listing then it is rare indeed.
Thank you Nick for taking the time to respond.
Sincerely,
Michael E

Not one I have come across yet, but some peoples view of silver and grey wheels can be one and the same.
I have bought many silver wheel versions that have turned out to be grey and the other way around.
But if it looks good, get it and show it on here.

Re: 31b Ford Station Wagon - Variation question
Jason,
I think you have explained away the listing mystery. A seller might describe silver as grey based on what he sees and has no intention of misleading a buyer. In fact, after I looked again today under close inspection the wheels on the model in question are obviously silver. What began this fact-finding mission was the inference that there was something special about the model because it has grey wheels.
I now know that Nick's variation guide and others are correct in omitting the: green body, pink roof, crimson (or maroon) base, grey wheels (not silver), variation.
Best regards to all. Enjoy the weekend.
