Birthday Fun...

Post by Johnny Pimp »

OK, seeing Nick being compared to a trolleybus in the other thread gave me an idea.

If you had to choose between a model produced for the year of your birth (i.e. 1972 = #72), or the model number produced for the age you are now (i.e. 41 years old = #41), which would you go for and why?

Sorry to all you guys born after 1975. At least you have your comparative youth!

Well being born in 66 i have a choice of 66a Citroen DS19, 66b Harley Davidson or 66c Greyhound Bus. If you took my age the choice is a 47a Brook Bond tea van, 47B Crommer Ice Cream Van or 47c DAF Container truck, So if i was to choose i think i would go for a 66a Citroen DS19!!!...........with SPW's in a type D box please. :D

Hello motorman, I cannot give you the #66a with spw on a "D" box, but just a picture ;) :)

As for me I am rather limited on the model for my birthday but a bit more to choose for my year of birth.

For my birth day age I had no option to go into the Superfast model, at least there is #s 76-77-78-79 :D

You forget that there were RW 76 - 79! What was to have been 76a (Cadillac Sixty Special) became 27c and 78a (Triumph m/c and sidecar) became 4c. The 17c Austin Taxi was pencilled in a 77a, whilst the 7c Ford Anglia was apparently going to be 79a. (In both these cases, primary source confirmation is still required.) Then there is 80a as the Volkswagen Beetle (25b), and also the suggested 81a Austin Cambridge which became 29b. (N.B. There does not seem to be any real evidence for the latter, only hearsay.) Further discussion can be found on the old forum here.

...and like Queen Elizabeth II, I tend to have several birthdays a year, so this gives me access to a number of models, so for starters...model #24c the Silver Shadow saloon matches my current age...

My son Dylan was born in 2008 and he is 5 years old, he says he wants an SF#8 Ford Mustang in white with thin 10.5x2mm wheels, He has expensive tastes I told him to ask Santa for one, however he is more likely to get an SF#5 Lotus Europa, I know he will be very happy with one of them in an early type F box please!

AH! it looks as if this Birthday Fun thread is merging into what we want for Christmas...so here goes...

I'll have a #24c with black plastic wheels.
another 24c 'Superfast' with thin wheels and waistline strip.
A 69c in blue with the long seat moulding, (yes, I know I've got one of these, but it is Christmas).
A 44b in silver-grey with silver-grey plastic wheels...
...OH YES, a pre-pro 69c in yellow.................. :P

I was born in 56 but none of the number 56s really connect with me. However, I am 57 years old, and the No. 57 1959 Chevy Impala was a car that really excited me when I was a kid. With those tear drop tail lights and gull wing fins, it was one of the most unique Chevy ever.
