I’ve been after one of these hard to find yellow #8 Rover 3500 models for a while and seem to miss out on everyone I bid on. Anyway I was in contact with a chap who lives not to far from me who had one and after a bit of talking we agreed on a reasonable sum and he brought it round to me this afternoon. It’s is in superb condition so I’m delighted.

That looks really good, Alex. They crop up now and again, but always go for very good money.
What's the story with these? Presumably they're late pre-productions issued to retail outlets, but were they individually packaged, or part of a gift set or multi-pack?

I also understand that they were preproduction however I have also written in my notes that a small number of these yellow models were shipped to Italy in the black and white striped window boxes and by the time they went on general release in the UK the production had switched to the bronze colour and they were released in the type L box.
