I'm very impressed that all the pallets are still there! Don't be in a hurry to remove the covers btw - they are really easy to rip around the little holes, and even when they don't rip they stretch and can be a real fiddle to put back on. Or maybe I'm just very cack-handed.............

A lot of cheap tat that was too good to leave for kids and only cost pennies! Anybody here know what was in the whole LONE STAR sci fi set that these 3 trucks came from???

Re: New in my collection !
Mick i think the Lone stars were issued as the Space Commander series and i think there was 4 vehicles in the set. They are quite rare. I think the silver one had lazer guns originaly, and the vehicle you are missing had a telescope type thing on the rear. Are these not from the early 80's??

Re: New in my collection !
Hi Mick, the idea behind this series of space vehicles was the same as their earlier 'Modern Army' series, four vehicles each carrying something different on the rear section.
A Gun carrier in Gold.
A radar carrier in Blue.
A Search-light carrier in Silver.
A Missile Launcher in Green.
These colours were found mixed across the range.
That's it only four vehicles in the range, date of introduction is unknown, but I believe it they come from the 1980's, they were marketed under the collective name of...'Space Commanders'.

I haven't seen these for years. Lone Star made a number of sci-fi models in the 80s, moon based models etc but these came from the Space Commanders series. I'm not sure how many there were, but I remember four and had a couple myself received in a joblot years ago (there was a Galactic Scanner, Solar Activator, Missile Interceptor and a Laser Disintegrator). I don't ever recall a set of these boxed, but I do remember the individual window boxes.SMS88 wrote:A lot of cheap tat that was too good to leave for kids and only cost pennies! Re: New in my collection !
I had both the Corgi and Dinky toys Imps and both are very good representations of the real car. My Dinky was the same metallic red as in the picture, but the Corgi was the Police Panda car, with side panels that would glow in the dark after shinning a bright torch light onto them, this was simply great for a young lad.
Oh the memories that are coming back while looking at all these models on the forum, wish I was still young and living in the mid-60's.

Re: New in my collection !
Lone Star ''Space Commanders'' were made from 1983 to 1985.
#1521 was the 'Solar Activator'
#1522 was the 'Galactic Scanner'
#1523 was the 'Missile Interceptor' (backing up MMs lazer gun memories)
#1524 was the 'Laser Disintegrator'
If you have even a passing interest in Lone Star I would recommend Geoffrey Ambridge's book, from where I have just stolen the above information
