Yes, it does explain the roof supports, original and genuine design, Thank's Dave, it looks like they tried a number of colours for it as well!

The red vauxhall. Without baseplate and certainly not mint.
I give the body a baseplate from a later yellow vauxhall.
Can anyone tell whether the body is real?

Welcome! Body looks real to me,no dash! Nice find - the baseplate looks correct too,it was often loose on these so no sin adding an identical one....... Did you find this in Holland or Germany where most turn up?

Your model is the first casting which is completely smooth on the underside of the bonnet, So yes it is the correct casting, The red paint and silver trim certainly look original so congratulations on finding one of the 'holy grails' that most of us are still trying to find, Superb!.

Does this little gem qualify as a holy Grail

This #35 Merryweather 'Fire Engine' was featured on the cover of a Vectis auction catalogue.
It seems to be in the full production colour of Red as seen on the 'Superfast' issue, with White ladders, but of course with regular wheels on crimped axles.

I am not registered with Vectis so can not add any further pictures or give you any details about the model from the catalogue.
