Hugh, I sourced this one from a Swedish seller who acquired this mini in a job lot from a former car dealer in Stockholm so maybe this promotion did go ahead after allIdris wrote:Supposedly they were produced for an abortive Swedish promotional.DrJeep wrote:That Mini is lovely! What’s the story behind these gold Minis?
Interestingly, there is some evidence that, rather than being specially painted, they might simply be standard models without the top coat (here).
That would explain how my example came to be mixed up in a group of other SF in a charity shop in central Stockholm.motorman wrote:Hugh, I sourced this one from a Swedish seller who acquired this mini in a job lot from a former car dealer in Stockholm so maybe this promotion did go ahead after all
Too coincidental imho, clearly some if not all made it to Sweden and into local collections around Stockholm.Idris wrote:That would explain how my example came to be mixed up in a group of other SF in a charity shop in central Stockholm.motorman wrote:Hugh, I sourced this one from a Swedish seller who acquired this mini in a job lot from a former car dealer in Stockholm so maybe this promotion did go ahead after all
Glenn that’s is a very good question but one that I don’t have the answer to. Very little is known about this promotion and I for one would love to know more about it myself.DrJeep wrote:As it's from a car dealer, does that mean that the promotion was for cars - presumably the Mini?
