Was at the Trentham Toy Fair today... that's in the lower half of the North Island of New Zealand in the Antipodes for all you Northern Hemisphere types!

Was a nice day out - sold a few items, bought a few items.... 3 x Dinky 661 Scammell Recovery Tractors (661-G-2, G-3, and G- 4) all in original condition but two with the rachet lever, on the tow arm, broken. Also got a nice French Dinky Citroen Police car and, courtesy of Taniwha, an MB 1-75 Aral Tanker (Thanks Gavin!).

No worries Ian - I like it when my things go to nice homes. Also good to have something of mine go your way, as I've purchased quite a few very nice things from you over the years.

I too had a good day - got some very interesting scarce beaters for not much outlay, and some nice SF variations for a change - I usually only seem to get RW at swapmeets these days. Also managed to sell enough stuff to fund all my new acquisitions.

When I get some down-time (ha ha) I'll post a few pics...

Brentwood was crap, my boy had £5 spending money and spent more than me, when will dealers realise that prices are down to what they were 4-5 years ago. GREEDY

prices are a bubble waiting to burst... just over £400 for a firenza, 3 figure sums for relatively common jap carded stuff ....... ill leave em to it.. will come back to buying when the prices are normal

Having read the above, I know what it's like from both sides of the fence. I collect, but I also sell. I don't sell diecast (I only buy!) but I do sell other antiques and collectables, and as a dealer, I have to say that the last two years have been extraordinarily diffcult. Those who have stock they bought before the market collapsed are faced with having to sell for less than they paid (and some areas have seen prices drop to less than half what they were only 5 years ago), while buying is just as difficult. The general public assumes they have pieces that are still worth a fortune (often based on what they see from archive re-broadcasts of Bargain Hunt and Flog-it!) and can't believe their treasures are only worth a fraction of what they were a few years ago. However, I digress ....

To return to topic, I was just going to mention that the second Cirencester Toy & Train Fair of the year takes place this coming Sunday, 3rd April, in the town's Bingham Hall. Hopefully, lots of diecast, as well as other toys and games. There's more info on the website at http://retroronnie.com/cirencester. There's another fair on May 7th, at Didcot.
