Cheers Chris....
Your post on the Dan Toys Heinz Guy prompted me to order direct from Daniel the 7 Guys he has produced....from his site the EU tax doesn't apply for outside EU purchases so I managed to pick these up including postage for about a third of what the eBay scalpers are asking....comparative pictures to come in a couple of weeks.
I have also managed to pick up another boxed Ruston Bucyrus excavator and have discovered an interesting box variation. Pic's to come shortly.

Right, here are my three Ruston Bucyrus excavators, the first one I got was boxed but the pivot in the middle of the boom was broken. I then picked up a grubby unboxed one a couple of months ago. Last week one popped up on our local auction site in near mint condition, boxed and complete with instructions and the hard to find outer wrapping for the box. Usual problem though I don not really want to get rid of any of them.
Slight variation on the boxes, one says "Watch out for it at your nearest dealer". Obviously taken from the advertising copy and put on the boxes of the early versions. Before someone noticed it didn't fit on a box in a store.

Wow Dave, you are a lucky Boy. The models and boxes are just brilliant, I would love to be playing with those right now, but the icing on the cake is that outer wrapper (protective sleeve), just superb and as you say the artwork is classic 60's. It looks a little delicate due to it's age and the job it had to do and do quite well it seems, so I think any restoration on the wrapper is going to be minimal.
Some scuffs and light surface marks can be removed with an office eraser, but you must tread carefully with the amount of pressure you use, because if the artwork was not protected with a final coating during the printing process, (a shiny smooth feel to it would indicate a level of protection, but a matt rough feel means NO, don't touch any of the coloured inked areas), the rubber will remove the ink, but will still be fine for cleaning the plain un-inked areas.
"Tinman" has done a good article on restoring boxes used by Lesney for their Matchbox models, in particular a detailed account of how to repair tears and how to Iron-out folds and creases etc, might be worth a look if you feel inclined to tackle those on the wrapper.
Great models and thank's for showing them.

Hi Dave!
Wonderful stuff there mate, those Rustons are ace, such great engineering to make it all work properly, classic Meccano. That restorers lot was a real winner, looks a lot better than all jumbled up in the box, he did a good job of those, and I love to see some what might have beens.
Glad to see you couldn't resist the Dan Toys either, I had no idea they were going to be so nice. It's great to finally have the missing link early Guy Heinz van too. I wonder if they'll do a Warrior Golden Shread so the set can be truly complete?
Cheers
Chris Warr.

Hey Chris
Thanks mate.......I'm sure if we ask Daniel nicely (or if enough people do) he will produce the Warrior in all its variants.
Cheers
