That's another cracking find Jason, the red seems more in keeping with Esso rather than BP.

Wow, I thought I'd never get a chance to see a real one of these (even if it's only a photo). Seen the rare red & white tanker before, but the legend of the black base has always seemed more like a fable or fairy tale. That is quite something to see. Congrats on that rare find!
Seeing that pic was an OMG moment for me.

That's a prepro metallic turquoise #69 if I'm not mistaken. Superb find J. There is an example featured on Christian's site.

The body on this model is the later casting so I would have to list it as a colour trial possibly, not sure what the one on Christians site is but it also looks like the later casting as well.

Not seen that one before, that's another great find Jason. Early or late, where's Ghosty when you need him?

Ghosty was busy painting a spare #69 metallic green...
Yes, the one on Christians site has the smaller door locks so is the later body casting and therefore really has to be seen as a colour trial.

Looking at the photograph, I find myself wondering whether this might not, in fact, be some kind of painting error: a particularly thin coating or (if this model usually has one) a missing undercoat/topcoat.
