You never used to see these when current issues, but there have been more about since the interweb came into being. This is true of a lot of items designated "rare".

Yes that’s quite true about a lot of models, I have had a lot of these with brass tanks and I feel this would still be rare with copper(genuine ones ) Or maybe it’s location and more of these went overseas.

Picked up this very unusual No10 Mechanical Horse a couple of months back, been trying to find information but cannot find any.
To me it looks like it was going to be in the Major series due to the size, model is in pretty good condition and would have been a good addition to the Major series. Colour is the same as the K10 pictured and a similar size to the M10.
Not sure where to list and add more pictures.

This truly is a great find Jason and to think it has been hidden away for some 57 or so years.

I wonder if this could have had a canopy planned as well. If it is around 1962 / 63 then plastics are being introduced for interiors and other components.
A nice cream one something like on the 914 Dinky AEC British Road Services of 1965 would have been nice.

I have been through my dealer catalogues, brochures and other written material and unlike other models that were made but not released but have featured somewhere over the years this Number 10 Scammell Scarab does not rate a mention.
I am sure this would have been popular and with livery changes could have been in production for a long period.
This is one model that is a complete surprise in its existence.

2020 is certainly shaping up for new reveals and findings with Lesney castings.

In trying to ascertain the scale I had a look in my chest that was packed away in 1973 of railway related items. This unopened Airfix kit measures about 100mm when complete and based on the photos from Jason I would say it is the same scale at about 1:76
I am sure this would have been popular with the model rail enthusiasts for OO and HO scale rail.

I note that the only bit of wear is where the trailer may hit the chassis of the Scarab and wonder if this problem with mould modification was a reason for not going ahead.

Note to Hugh, here is another example where Lesney have continued the number scheme of Scammell with this as 10 and the K10 Scammell Pipe truck

Brilliant and thanks for sharing this one Jason.

Superb find Jason, it's a very handsome looking model. It's amazing that new things are still cropping up after all these years. You can imagine it with different colour combinations, canopies and loads to enhance its play value.

Thanks John, yes it would have been a great model. I was going to add more pictures but the Greek has just copied all those prepro,s that sold recently and are now on eBay.
