I went to the NSVA van nats earlier this year, my first one for over 10 years, I could not believe how many old faces were there, lots of them were also at their first run for many years, did you ever go to the NVV run at Ashton rugby club?.

Sadly no, I never did, I had a CF but was never in the NSVA, just the NASC and NSRA, I remember a few faces from the NSVA though, Steve Stringer and George Smith spring to mind, happy days the late '70's.

Heres me working on a pals 5.2 Dodge V8.This was in a Winibago he bought and I worked on it all one summer to get it on the road for his family outings..It was like getting a ship ready for sea.The engine I got out on my own with an Iron Man crane on cobbles through the cab.....

In the early 70's Steve Stringer was my hero, When I saw his channeled CF for the first time at one of the early Custom Car shows in Ally Pally it totally blew my mind, I knew then that I wanted a van, Steve moved to the USA many years ago but can usually be found on the NSVA Facebook page.

Here is my daily ride. Audi A6 2,4 V6 aut. transmision 1998 model. (this pic is with winter wheels, got 19" S8 wheels on in summer)It is an import from germany so it is packed with extras. I had it now for 3 years and it has not ones let me down. It has 170HP and is quite fast, not like a racingcar, but she goes. In Denmark there is a mass hysteria about thees cars mostly becaurse people can calculate, so they think big german car are much more expensive than korean or french cars. But I have not lost more than 1-2000£ a year on this Audi, and I have only made service and changed tires. So it is the cheapest car I have ever had. It goes 8-10km to a liter gas, that is fine by me. My next car will be the 2006 A6 with 2,8liter and 200HP (or a Porsche Panamera, if I win the lottery )

Last week I warmed up my Marinas and topped up their anti freeze ready for 4 months hibernation with daily temperatures even in the garage of around 0 degrees.............

Tthe last car I did before I left for Oz was the CF - long wheelbase and ripped it apart. Ended up with fully chromed Jag rear end, Rover V8 up front with straight through Cherry bombs on the pipes, 10x 15s on the rear. Cut the roof into 10 sections and lowered it by around 6 inches (hell of a job) Fitted swivel seats and one piece rear door from the old Van Shop in the East End. Rear of the van was like the blue brothel with all diamond tucked upholstery, usual TV and bar etc. All door handles removed (changed to solenoid operated) , aerials frenched in and a big grill and dam across the whole front.
All I had to do was paint it after 20 coats of matt black and rubbing down - it was all ready and then we came here so got sold - wonder where it is now ?? Somewhere I have a few pics left of it but not sure where at present.

I am amazed at the number of Custom/Hotrod car fanatics on here..... If as I have you have always been a car or truck fanatic it obviously makes sense to practice the art in the real world and the model world.Notice the use of the word model as I would never think of them as toys.
This MUST have a bearing on what we collect.For me its the security of knowing that my models will always be there for me and not be an ongoing financial burdon plus the thrill of being able to own or work on something I could never possibly afford in real life.....

Just look at the stuff we own or have owned on here.I think its finominal is that the right spelling.?

Oh heres another of my past loves.An 83 Renault 18 diesel.Bought new and driven 110,000 in one year.Sold for a good loss..Brakes pads every 3 weeks and an oil change every month.
