While looking for a potential donar model for a base swap I thought I would try brake fluid on the over painted 47b Ice Cream Van. Turns out there is still a lot of the original blue paint as well as portions of the original decals.
It's a work in progress and it remains to be seen what is left after working with brake fluid.

Very interesting results and despite what we can see in the pictures, this is another model with so much charm as it sits there on that cloth or tissue crying out to tell us it's history. Another model I would be very happy to own, I just love it.

it's nice to have minty models but sometimes a little character is better

Speaking of character, here is an update on my GPW 47b Commer ice cream van:

There was some original paint under the dark blue top coat but the prospect is fairly patchy.
I am still looking for a donar vehicle but for now, I'll enjoy it as it is.

Looks like with your efforts Kurt, you were at least able to bring out, what there was left of the original finish.
Well done

As well as a Japanese knock off of a 13A Bedford Wrecker. (See Lounge Lesney Copies. Sorry I don't know how to create a link.)

Well done - both models are still on my wish list.
Looks like they joined the wrong garage.

Well done Kurt.
