Since my last post on this subject, I have found my 'MINT ON CARD' wide arch 'lime-gold' example, it has the number 3.

and I have unearthed only two 'breakers', in gold, with wide arches and they both have the number 3.

I know somewhere I have more 'breaker' models, stored in a big glass jar, (I always fancied having the jar from the pub with all those spare coins inside, but couldn't, so instead, I would have a jar of models!) but it is in deep storage and I simply do not know where to start looking for it.

Where is "johnboy" and "nearlymint", come on guys lets have a look at your numbers...............

If we assume all castings with larger door locks and sharp tow hook area bumper edges have the number 1 or 2 inside we just need to compare door locks and tow hook area edges on our gold cars to see if any have the features associated with the #1 & #2 tooling because it could also be possible that the bodies number 3 or 4 featuring small door locks and smooth tow hook area bumper edges remained in production after the 1st made tooling had broken or worn out

Yes, I agree with that and this is where I have to bow down to other members, who have a good selection of 'Gold' and 'Lime-Gold' models, so they can check those details. I simply do not have enough of those in my own collection..........................drat

I thought i should move this subject over to this thread.

Here are some more images of the 69c i picked up at Scotmodel, the fact that the base has been damaged gives us a good opportunity have a good look into the inners of the model. I would be interested to hear your conclusions on this one.

BTW what do you think of the super detailing some previous owner has given to the licence plate and rear lights. He has even highlighted the side indicators!!!. Very colourful!!

Hello motorman, good idea moving this model here.

The second from last picture is the clincher, as it clearly shows those dark orange rear seat extensions, through the boot hinge cut-outs.

Congratulations motorman, you are the proud owner of only the third example of this particular version to show up on this forum.

The detail painting is quite accurate and yes, those little orange side marker lights on the front wings are correct for this car from this period.

It is such a shame about the baseplate, but as I mentioned in an earlier post, it actually helps in this case.

A really nice model (baseplate's hidden when it's displayed anyway).. also, the custom-detailing makes it look more realistic. Love those rear lights and number plate!

The yellow 69c has the number 2 on the body same as my standard one, but the MB69 is not on the body below the 2. Regards Jason

Yes, 'pre-pro' models tend not to have their final "Matchbox" catalogue number until the final "OK, Put it into production" is given, by a senior member of the sales team, the 'Yesteryear' models are similar, in that 'pre-pro' models have in-complete dates and 'Y-' numbers.

Sounds like 2 segments of the initial SF69 tool had been cut & tested when the body of your pre-pro example was cast !
