When someone states that 2 line Pickfords in Green were done purposely to expose certain well known dealers who might sell them, the person who installed the decals is the 'FAKER'. There has been no further comment after I gave that fact as my opinion on the matter. If Charlie Mack is the only one to list this variation, that means very little today. Just as the internet continues to bring out unknown casting variations out of 'Old' collections, we can also expect odd decal variations to appear as well. As was stated very early in this thread, ANY decal variation is questionable since the factory sold off their stocks of unused decals years ago to collectors. To prove genuine or 'Fake' was then made impossible to determine on our Lesneys after that. The value of a decal variant is determined by who wants a certain model, not by ever being able to authenticate any factory provenance of the given Toy..........kwakers

Doubly so when the variation in question only seems to exist as mint!

Buying wheel and casting variations with good pictures of factory axles is tough enough today GPW without chasing these expensive decal variants. As is obvious, the market is very strong on these right now, but the reason for it escapes me completely. Graham has also done well in large auctions with his rare decal variations and Great reputation, so I would shop with him if tough 'minty' decal variations were of interest to me.
It is entirely possible a shipment of 2 line green Pickfords was shipped to the California area, but who can tell which ones are 'real' today. We have waited for months now to learn about these odd Pickfords, but perhaps our Tutor has left the school for good........kwakers

I had taken mine out of the collection after reading the post here. Now I am really confused. That one went for more than $500. Any thoughts about what I should do?

My opinion is to leave any model in your collection that shows a proper Lesney issued decal on a Lesney Toy unless it can be PROVEN as a fake. If a two line decal were to be found on an early first casting Pickfords Van, or even on a last type casting with rear bumper on it, the casting timeline proves the model is a fake. Other than the suspicion of a reproduction decal, I would be proud to leave one of these in our collection. There is no evidence that these 2 line decals were NOT used on later green bodies in limited numbers, ( and possibly shipped into the California area?) so why not continue searching out the truth on these models. Antonin showed us his original, so we now know they were factory produced for at least a short time as discussed earlier in this thread.
Of course if you wish to sell your green 2 line cheap, I would be glad to do a decade long investigation while it is on my shelves................

I've emailed Mr. Brennan about the provenance of the model. Perhaps he will be able to shed some light on the matter. I hope.
