#23 caravan with windows
Re: #23 caravan with windows
It is very interesting to read our comments from 2 years ago and to find that we are still just as angry at Hardy over what he did to that genuine preproduction glazed Caravan. Christian's initial views on agreeing with Hardy's lame invented excuses seem to have never publicly changed, even after Nick proved that there actually had been at least four factory produced and completed glazed Caravans that were recently discovered back then. Nick even held three of those originals in his hands to evaluate, as did Tim and now Jason as the new owner of that fourth windowless (Thanks to Hardy) Caravan. Perhaps Nick's pictures of those three remaining Caravans gave Hardy a new insight into what he had shamelessly destroyed without hesitation, but the German never changed the wording on his newly faked 'pure as Snow' Caravan that sold or traded by May of 2015.
Thanks to Ghosty, and now to Nick for freshening up this incident for all worldwide collectors to view again and be upset over as we had been by such dishonest conduct. Cheers! Dick

Re: #23 caravan with windows update.
Here is an update of the story.
The #23c Caravan with windows recently sold on Ebay is now the property of the forum.
With the help of Two forum members, my plan for buying such a model came into being.
Dick ("Kwakers") via 'PM' reactivated my plan to pool resources and very kindly offered some funding.
The model nearest the Camera in the above picture is the example we have. Reg ("Fixer"), very kindly placed the bid on the model as I do not do Ebay, but I went to collect the model and paid for it. The seller also showed me the other examples but is keeping them for the time being.

Great teamwork guys in keeping it out of a certain German collectors hands, but how are you going to share this extremely rare #23 between 3 members?

Yes, well done boys, great work to preserve this model.motorman wrote:Great teamwork guys in keeping it out of a certain German collectors hands, but how are you going to share this extremely rare #23 between 3 members?
Now just send the glazing to me, the casting to Alex and the door to Kwakers and we can rotate around the members every 3 months.

Re: #23 caravan with windows
I just put the bid in after a phone call from Kev as Dick wasn't allowed to bid from the US all credit must go to these 2 true collectors
Apart from the window it's the knowledge that R&D were crimping axles out of time lines that could provide insight into other models thought to be suspect

Well done lads I'm proud of you and the R&D were even crimping some earlier Superfast pre pro's so no problem on that front.
