Ghosty, you should have that stop sign looking ABP button on your browser. Right click and then "disable on this website". This should work.

While I am on the forum, I don't see the ABP logo, not anywhere, but I know the the one you mean. Assuming it was visible on the board index (basically our Home page on the forum), what you suggest sounds ideal.

Further to my mystery, I am typing this on my Macbook Pro and at top right corner I DO see the ABP 'STOP' logo, but using this laptop to come onto the forum is really quick and navigation around the forum is fluent and responsive, suggesting the VAIO is at fault, Hmm, VAIO=Microsoft, Macbook=Safari, Ah, there's the problem, all I have to do is rip out the Microsoft crock of shit for an Operating System in the VAIO and it'll be fine...

I am running Windows 10 with Chrome and it is fine, is your Windows version 10 also Kev or are you using an older version?

Hi Rob.

The VAIO's core operating system is Windows 8 with elements of Windows 7 and Google Chrome. The Macbook Pro is Safari OS X with Google Chrome.

Hi Kev

I had an old laptop with old version of Windows on it which packed up a few months ago and meant I had to buy the new one I have now with Windows 10. Before the old laptop packed up I regularly had issues with accessing certain things, not all but just some. It is possible that some of your problems are associated with the older Windows you are running.

I totally agree with what you say. I refused to install 'W10' because A, you have limited control over what updates are downloaded, the decision now being done by Microsoft and B, the biggest upgrade 'W10' has over 'W8' was for touch screen computers, which my VAIO does not have.

It does seem to be since the advert code was added to the forum that I am having issues. Once the machine has been on for about 30mins, its fine, I can not fault it, so it is just like the old Days when you switched on the Radio and waited for the valves to warm up before you heard any music from the Home Service.

Nothing to do with your issue Ghosty, but Windows 10 updates can be managed by changing your connection settings to "metered", that way they don't automatically spurt through and drag your processor and memory through the mud just when you're trying to bid on that hidden gem :)

Yes, good point John and worth mentioning, I have set the updates to suit me and also binned the Edge as browser in favour of Chrome which works perfectly, found the Edge far too frustrating

I am writing this comment on the Macbook Pro and as mentioned above, I do see the ABP 'STOP' sign at top right corner. I have clicked this and disabled adblocking for this forum and I can now see the single advert that Nick has added to the forum. It will now be interesting to see how my VAIO handles this, will it have speeded up, or will it be dragging itself around the room at a snails pace... :D
