Some more 'Models of Yesteryear'.

They are...

1st version from late 1968, has narrow roof securing tabs.
1st version with the 'Ribbed' Grey roof.
1st version with inner roof 'Pips'.
1st version in the new 1973 launch 'Woodgrain' box.
1st 'Wide' spring baseplate borrowed from Y-6 Rolls-Royce 'Fire Engine' with Y-6 base number.
1st 'Wide' spring baseplate with modified Y-6 & Y-7 base number.
1st Yellow recolour version but on an overpainted Y-6 'Fire Engine' baseplate.
1st 'Duchy of Cornwall' version from 1981. Another version was issued in 1982 with different headlamps.
1st Yellow version with the modified rear window struts.

These are just 9 of about 80 versions of this very popular model.

Ghosty, I thought I had a pretty good collection of yesteryear variations. I had no idea how many variations are available (80 for one model!!). Wish I could tap into your knowledge base. What is your go to guide? Cheers, Macdonald

Thank's Mac. I don't have a 'Go To' guide, none of them are accurate enough for my needs, both the MICA magazines and the White books are erroneous regards Rolls-Royce models. I have purchased various model car books over the Years and I find myself mentally correcting the mistakes, the 40 years book for Matchbox has mistakes, the big book of Corgi has mistakes, the big book of Dinky has mistakes, so I do not use books for any referencing of my models, they have been painstakingly researched for many Years to get them sorted into their correct 'Time-Lines' and even after working on the collection for many Years, I still have to fine tune some of the collection, especially the Matchbox models because so many were made and they had a habit of using old stock castings and components which play havoc when doing a 'Time-Line' for one model.

The Y-7 1912 Rolls-Royce was made from 1968 to 1972, then from 1973 to 1983, so there was every chance a few casting changes or modifications would take place in all this time and I seem to have spent a life time getting as many examples as I can and then sorting them all out in the right order, not only that, I do the same for the other 'Yesteryear' Rolls-Royce and Bentley models, do it again for the Corgi, Dinky and Lone-Star Rolls-Royce and Bentley models, then all the Foreign brands, then all the plastic kits...no wonder my Hair is going a little Grey...

I have finally found some wire that I hope will work that when wrapped around the brake drums will simulate the important air vents. I keep forgetting to take a before picture of the basic drums before I start working on them, but thank's for asking.
