Thanks Jason and Hugh for checking it. From my approx. 20 models of 41a has only one model this protrusion. I have never seen it on another models. What do you think about the purpose of it.

I can't help much Antonin, I've checked all of mine and only this one has a small protruding area, but further towards the front of the car.

I control my 41a Jaguar and found this base plate.

I have a model the same a John, causing the baseplate not to fit properly with a similar protrusion.
Also my understanding for the slot in the base of car was for the driver location, I had one loose somewhere and the base of the driver locates through and then the base plate holds it in.

...and another! (This time it's our very own Tim with a BiN. It'll be interesting to see if it sells and, if so, how quickly.)

You are right Hugh and Jason, the recess is for the driver. I have done an autopsy and here is the result.

By the looks of it, the recess aligned perfectly with the cockpit, thereby explaining the odd, tapering shape.

So I guess the driver sits on top of the pin cast into the baseplate, But I can't see how the driver would be able to come loose and fall out so all 41a with missing drivers must be factory errors, This must apply to the 41b as well, Hmmm...interesting!.
